Another challenge is getting companies to sponsor you. The skateboarding industry is filled with companies in the lookout for new bloods. But it is difficult to convince a company to invest in a new comer who is yet to prove himself. Just like in any investment, you have to prove yourself before you can expect for support to pour in.
Visibility is another key, if you wish to have the kind of bond that Element Skateboards and Bam Margera has, you have to be visible. Don’t hesitate to join amateur competitions. Most pros were discovered in amateur competitions and who knows, you may have your chance the next time.
And love what you do. This is what the successful skateboarders always say. They love every moment of it. If you love something, you become really passionate about it. You want to improve each time. This is what practicing is all about-enhancing your skills.
Skateboarding has definitely come a long way; from the sidewalk four-wheel cart ride to ESPN. It has also evolved from the simple carved wood to well researched materials. The players have also changed; from the young boys to the icons that the skateboarders are right now. And this can happen to dreamers as well. From a dream, they can become the next top skateboarder the world will encounter.
