I noticed that you asked this couple has the afternoon, but if you have not already, you have nothing to lose by trying to have it repaired or replaced (most sooner the better you ask, no doubt). It depends what you mean by "defective" if. If the product does not work when you bought it, then it is defective and is required by law the company to replace it here in Australia. Not sure about the laws there, but there should be many laws, commissions and agencies of government to protect consumer rights where you live (do a Google search on it if necessary). Even if the law does not require the company to replace or refund a defective product, it is always good customer relations practice to replace unwanted products or defective, unless they suspect that it was not defective at the start and that you have broken or damaged product after * purchase *. So why it is probably best to take the product back immediately for a refund or replacement.
