Take a good look at the professional skateboarder’s body. Have you seen, in his MTV show, Ryan Sheckler shirtless? He’s got a well toned body. The guy is stringy but is ripped like Brad Pitt! Imagine that. Take a good guess at which physical activity can be most attributed to his ripped abs: skateboarding. How can skateboarding get you the muscles you want? Read on then to discover the facts and great exercise techniques to get ripped like Ryan Sheckler shirtless.

Keeping balanced is not as easy as it looks. Balancing on a skateboard is much harder because you need to shift your body’s weight left and right, forwards and backwards. Remember that you are supporting a lot of your weight. Therefore, all the work of supporting your upper body in this way funnels down falls to your torso, your abs, then to your legs. Your arms also play some role when shifting your weight. If you are starting to learn skateboarding, you’ll be spending hours and hours supporting and shifting your weight. More so, you are doing this unconsciously. Before you know it, you’re already addicted to the fun of skateboarding and you’ve been unwittingly working out your abs and legs for hours on end. Now, imagine how it would be if you start trying out and mastering progressively harder skateboard tricks one at a time. You’d be spending more and more hours, and you’ll also be using more muscles since these tricks are really hard to do. That’s exactly why those professional skaters like Ryan Sheckler, shirtless and sweating, look like they’ve been working out so hard in the gym.

Here are the best and easiest tricks you can learn that give the maximum workout:

The Ollie
This is one neat skateboard trick which opens the door the so many other skateboard tricks. Learn this one and you are on your way to learning a lot more. This builds your calves and sculpts your butt. Not to mention trains your feet coordination since you have to kick down your skateboard while jumping in the air. The effect being that your skateboard seems stuck to your feet while airborne.

50 – 50 Grinds
Grinds, as with any other skateboarding trick, require so much balance. You will need to use your hands, and your whole body to keep the grind going. Thus, this not only develops your arms, but also tones your torso.

Kickflips
This is considered by some people to be an intermediate skateboard technique. However, if you get this one down, you will reap the benefits of cardio work out as well as a whole body workout. That is, while you are mastering the technique.

So there you have it. Try mastering these techniques and time will fly by so fast before you know it, you’ve already ripped like Ryan Sheckler. Shirtless will no longer be a non option for you. You will take your shirt, be in the nude and get worshipped by the beach bunnies.

* Freestyle tricks involve balancing on some other part of the board than all four wheels, such as two wheels or one wheel, the tail of the board, or the edges on either side. Various ways to flip and manipulate the board in and out of these stances were invented in the earliest years of skateboarding and these form the basis of freestyle or flatground skateboarding.

* Aerials involve floating in the air while using a hand to hold the board on his or her feet or by keeping constant and careful pressure on the board with the feet to keep it from floating away. This class of tricks was first popularized when Tony Alva became famous for his Frontside Airs in empty swimming pools in the late 1970s and has expanded to include the bulk of skateboarding tricks to this day, including the Ollie and all of its variations.

* Flip tricks are a subset of aerials which are all based on the Ollie. The first such trick was the Kickflip. You can spin the board around many different axis, and even combine several rotations in to one trick. These tricks are arguably most popular among street skateboarding purists, although skaters with other styles perform them as well.

* Slides and Grinds involve getting the board up on some type of ledge, rail, or coping and sliding or grinding along the board or trucks, respectively. When it is primarily the board which is contacting the edge, it’s called a slide; when it’s the truck, it is a grind. Grinding and sliding skateboards started with sliding the board on parking blocks and curbs, then extended to using the coping on swimming pools, then stairway handrails, and has now been expanded to include almost every possible type of edge.

* Lip tricks are done on the coping of a pool or skateboard ramp. Most grinds can be done on the coping of a ramp or pool as well, but there are some coping tricks which require the momentum and vertical attitude that can only be attained on a transitioned riding surface. These include Inverts and their variations as well as some dedicated air-to-lip combinations.

There are few Skateboarding Tricks which can enable you to explore the real fun in this sport. Find out and follow these Skateboard Trick Tips and you will come to know why this is called an extreme sport…

Skateboarding is a fun and exciting sport that attracts young adults in learning it. Although many parents think it is dangerous it does not stop the kids from doing it. Accidents happen in skateboarding when we are not careful yet these accidents also pave way to great skateboarders. This sport is invented not to harm but to render fun and excitement to the people. Here are some tips in learning skateboard and their tricks.

And remember the guidelines and the equipment each skater need are there for a given purpose.

Skateboarding Tricks
1) 180- It is when the skateboarder, while in the air turns 180 degrees and when he/she touches the ground the nose will be position in the other side.
2) 360 – It is when the skateboarder, while in the air turns 360 degrees without changing the board’s direction.
3) 5-0 – It is when the skateboard’s nose is a little bit in the air and the skateboarder grinds the board using the back truck.
4) 50-50- It is when the skateboarder’s grind at an object with both
trucks.
5) Air – It is when the skateboarder is seen on air without ollying.
6) Backside – It is when the skateboarders back is seen facing the outside of an arc being turned while doing a rotation.
7) Bail – It is when the skater lands safely after a failure in doing a trick.
Carving – It is when the skateboarder leans and cuts into turns
while riding its board.
9) Fakie- It is when the skateboarder skates at the opposite direction/backwards.
10) Frontside- It is when the skateboarders front is facing on the
outer side of an arc while rotating.
11) Goofy – It is a stance that refers to the skaters positioning of the foot. It is called Goofy when the left foot is on the back or what is called tail.
12) Grabs- It is when the skateboarder reaches down the board to grab it.
13) Grind- It is when you use the truck while sliding an edge.
14) Heel edge- This refers to the edge of a board.
15) Heel Flip- It is when the skaters kick the board to make it flip
under them.
16) Indy- It is similar to grab but the skater will have to grab the toe side of the board and keeping their back hand down.
17) Kickflip- It is when the skater is in the air and flick the board with his or her foot and make it spin while on air and then lands on the board.
18) Manual- It is when the skateboarder is rolling on the ground
without the tail touching the ground.
19) Nollie- It is when the skateboarder slaps the nose of his board towards the ground and pop its board into the air.
20) Nose- The nose is located in front of a skateboard deck and is seen after the two screws.

Those are the list for skateboarding tricks now we then go over to the skateboarding tips.

Skateboarding Tips
1) Basic Gear – The first thing you need to do is to have a pair of skate, a helmet, a protective pads (elbow and knee pads) and wrist braces.
2) Getting Comfortable – After purchasing your new skateboard you need to be comfortable on it. Try these on your board before trying dangerous tricks: standing, jumping and etc…
3) Stance: Goofy vs. Regular – Goofy is when you skate with your
Right foot forward and Regular is the opposite. These are what you called stances, you need to figure out which stance you belong.
4) Pushing- Try to roll your board on a parking lot and practice cruising with your board by using your back foot.
5) Stopping- You can stop by taking off your back foot and drag it on the ground this is what you called Foot breaking.
6) Carving- Its is the act of leaning heel side or toe side to get your board to turn. In doing this just push the board and shift your weight to your heels while the board is turning.
6) Skating Over Flow- In skating at ramps, bend your knees and shift your weight to your front foot to maintain balance and absorb shock.
7) Kick turns- It is when you balance yourself at the back of the wheels and swing to a new direction.
Getting Hurt and Getting Back Up- Don’t stop skating regardless on how many times you fall.
9) Skate and Create- This is where you have your share of fun in skating and creating moves with your skateboard.

What do you think after reading these tips? I know that skateboarding is hard specially after hearing what you have to do but its pretty cool. Everything is possible when you put your heart and mind into it. I’m pretty sure that with a lot of practice, patience and falls you would become the best skateboarder you should be.

We all have seen crazy teens gliding on the streets, in front of marble paved Banks. They skate "in packs".

It’s interesting how the number of skateboarders nowadays has tremendously increased. And this is not necessary a bad thing. In just 50 years skateboarding has become a worldwide known and practiced sport, and I dare to add a trend, and a life style.

Although no one knows who invented skateboarding, it developed rapidly. At first, who wanted to skate had to make his own skateboard.

A very rudimentary form (planks with wheels under them), and skateboarding did not represent anything else than just gliding down the road. However, after only 13 years after skateboarding was invented, in 1963 this sport began to gain popularity, even though it was in a primitive state.

To shorten the story, skateboarding had its ups and downs. In the ’70s skateboarding popularity decreased, then went back up in the 80′ with the invention of new tricks. Allan "Ollie" Gelfand invented the ‘ollie’.

However, skateboarding was disregarded again in the late ’80s and the starting of the ’90s. These last years were troublesome for pro-skaters like: Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill.

It is interesting that skateboarding did not die, but in exchange it covered more ground. Skateboarding developed in the streets. Passionate skateboarders decided to create their own skateboard production system. New and improved skateboards appeared. This helped skateboarders do more daring and new stunts, which attracted the youth.

In the late ’90 and starting with the year 2000, a new kind of musing appeared, and a new generation of skateboarders: "the punkers". While skating is about being free, just you and the board, having the possibility of doing endless tricks, and riding in any way you want, punk music expressed this desire of being free and independent and it shouted out loud the needs of a generation. Therefore, the loud rock music merged almost perfectly with this sport.

An interesting thing is that anyone can try to skateboard and skateboarding is for everyone. In a skate park you can find "punkers", nerds, normal teens, Goths, and what is more interestingly is that they get along. They socialize, and they express themselves freely. You find there pro-skaters that give tips to guys that just bought their first skateboard. And this is one thing skateboard is about.

Teens and not only teens start to love this sport. Things like, skate shoes, special decks and boards, performance wheels, video stunts, contests, video games, bring skateboarding in the mainstream.

Nevertheless, skateboarding is not about, looking cool, or doing tricks on a board, but more often hanging with your friends, having a good time while ridding the skateboard, and evolving at your own pace. Moreover, progressing in skateboarding can hurt, and it usually does. Skateboarding implies with no doubt a great dose of adrenaline!

The feeling you get when you jump 10 feet in the air is incredible, although you don’t land on your feet every time! Skateboarding is about danger and facing it, fulfilling your pride, going beyond your own limits.

The development of skateboarding included the development of a few other things: boards, decks producers, shoe ware, clothing, etc. All these brought together different types of people, of characters under a single name: Skater.

For all those who want to be skateboarders, it’s easy because you can find anything you want at an acceptable price. Specialized shops sprang out of nowhere, shops in which you can find everything a skateboarder needs-from decks to wheels and shoes, and all kind of accessories.

Here are just a few world known brands: Alien Workshop, Blind, Cape Fear, Aesthetics, Origin, Outlook, Firm, DNA, Zero, and the list could go on. Shoe brands: Ethnics, DC, Osiris, etc. Wheels: Bones, Powell, Spitfire. And all kind of accessories, from stickers and colored boards to t-shirts markings, and backpacks with a special place for the skateboard.

It is no wonder that skateboarding is more and more popular, and more accessible to everyone.

Trend is defined as a popular tendency at a given time. In it’s short and adventures history, skateboarding has become more than a trend. It has become a lifestyle.
